Will Durant was an American historian and philosopher best known for the eleven volume Story of Civilization, written with his wife Ariel over four decades. The Durants won the 1968 Pulitzer Prize for Rousseau and Revolution, and their earlier Story of Philosophy helped popularise the discipline for a general readership.
